A run in with a family member
One Reddit user, Major-Membership-508, shared his awkward experience in a dedicated post on r/askgaybros titled “I saw my uncle at the gay sauna.” The 21-year-old, who is not yet out, says he ran into his openly gay uncle at a gay sauna.
He woke me up and asked if I was OK…I told him that I had not taken anything and that I think it was the jacuzzi. The encounter left him spiraling, unsure of how to handle the situation—or even if he should address it. What’s more, if you feel the urge to write, indulge it by entering the contest yourself! and even more recently that their stories have become accepted fare for mainstream fiction.
Fortunately, times have very much changed.

Celebrated my birthday with a few friends and got pretty hammered and since I drove into the city with a couple of them we were stuck until one of them suggested we go to the bathhouse and sober up lol.
Soon as we got in they disappeared and I spent a good while sweating it out in the sauna.
Trailblazing authors like David Levithan and Sarah Waters proved that readers were hungry for LGBTQ+ fiction and representation, and since the early aughties, this trend has only been on the rise. Yeah that sobered me up instantly.

What’s it like when a celebrity shows up at a gay bathhouse?
If you can imagine it, it happens in a bathhouse.
The Homo Sapiens Agenda and The Miseducation of Cameron Post have been turned into blockbuster films, and just about every YA agent out there has “own-voices LGBTQ+ stories” on their manuscript wish list.
However, don’t make the mistake of thinking there’s anything close to a surplus of these stories! I think the jacuzzi did something to my blood pressure.
Not only do many incredible LGBTQ+ stories remain as-yet untold, but when you think about it, there are hardly any of them in the mainstream when compared to straight, cis narratives — which is why it’s such good news that this trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.
