Why has our culture opened up to LGBT individuals? The ruling also prohibits employees from calling students by names or pronouns that don’t match their legal ones unless they have the parents’ permission.

In the ruling, Benitez cited the Supreme Court’s decision earlier this year in Mahmoud v. Taylor, where the court sided with Maryland parents who argued that the Montgomery County School District’s refusal to allow opt-outs from the LGBTQ+-inclusive K-5 curriculum infringed on their First Amendment religious rights.

The LGBTQ+ legal advocacy group Equality California said that the decision is “dangerous” because it targets protections that keep  LGBTQ+ students safe in schools.

“This ruling comes at a time when transgender and gender-nonconforming youth across the country are facing a coordinated effort to undermine their safety and well-being, Equality California Executive Director Tony Hoang said in a statement.

The state has already appealed the case, arguing that the injunction could cause significant harm to students.

Data collected from 28,000 adults between 1989 and 2014 found that more and more Americans answered “yes” to this question.

It is partially due to a time period effect—with all generations growing more accepting over time—but also partially to a generational shift, with a continuing generation gap between millennials and older generations.

The tennis world turned its attention to Dubai as the "Battle of the Sexes" saw Nick Kyrgios take on Aryna Sabalenka in a mixed-gender exhibition match.

There will then be a natural progression towards greater equality allowing all our unique expressions.

Our future is calling us to be more accepting and aware in our understanding of same sex relationships, and of the truth that every relationship offers us opportunities to evolve and have an ever-deepening expression of love.

    The idea of “do what’s right for you” can be taken too far, toward a self-centered morality that doesn’t take others’ feelings into account. But when “do what’s right for you” means expressing your sexuality and love with someone else, regardless of gender, it’s a phrase of openness, not selfishness. Many other cultural shifts occurred in the nation during the same time period—growing gender equality, more self-focus, more emphasis on uniqueness, and less reliance on traditional social rules.

    Millennials—those who were 18-to-29 in 2014—were the most accepting, with 63% reporting that same-sex sexuality was “not wrong at all.” This reflects an enormous cultural change in a relatively short period of time.

    “The Court’s sweeping injunction, which forecloses enforcement of state constitutional and statutory protections applicable in the school environment, inflicts severe and indisputable irreparable harm on California,” the appeal notes.

    When Ellen DeGeneres came out in 1997, she faced a furious backlash and her sitcom was cancelled. To want to share love deeply and express sexually is a natural feeling in relationships and needn’t alter or become an issue if the individuals are of the same sex.

    If you choose from your heart who you express love with, it will never be unnatural or inferior, yet in this world it has been viewed this way by many for a very long time; even today it is still seen as totally unacceptable by some.

    Being in a same sex relationship has the potential to evolve personal growth just as any other relationship does.

    My colleagues and I (and many others) have found evidence of a shift toward individualism in everything from the language used in books (including pronouns) to the names we give our children to the decline in religion to our self-views. Additionally, the ruling bans public school employees from misleading parents about their child’s gender presentation at school, such as by using pronouns or names different from those used at home.

    As for Kyrgios, he has struggled with injuries this year and hasn't competed in the ATP Tour since March, but he was looking to put that behind him for an opportunity to feature in such a famous match.

    The rules saw both play in a three-set match, though Sabalenka's side of the court was nine percent smaller to supposedly compensate for the difference between the two at the top.

    The ruling originates from a class-action lawsuit filed in April 2023 by two former teachers from the Escondido Union School District, Elizabeth Mirabelli and Lori Ann West.

    Your sexual partner doesn’t have to be a different gender to make it OK. The modern idea is "do what's right for you," and that has meant more freedom for people to engage in same-sex sexuality and to accept it among others.

    I’ve written a lot about the disadvantages of individualism, which can include narcissism and disconnection from others.

    This development has been impulsed by the call of humanity to be more equal in its politics and more accepting of ALL.

    Poignantly, it is ultimately up to us to accept who we are first, and the world may then choose to follow.
